Dream Journal Ramblings

07/28/10 | by Abbey [mail] | Categories: Holidays, Random, Hoppie
I’ve always had really weird and sometimes oddly specific dreams. There are mornings I wake up knowing I had a strange dream but can’t remember a detail. Then there are mornings that I wake up and remember everything. Someone once suggested I get a dream… more »

Unless! UNLESS!

Yesterday my work place issued out happy green, reusable shopping bags. Go green and all that jazz. Can I tell you how much I love reusable shopping bags? A lot. They are awesome. I haven’t become the person who carts in 50 bags for her weekly shopping y… more »

April Cut A Bitch Day!

04/01/10 | by Abbey [mail] | Categories: Holidays, Random
You either hate April Fool’s Day or you OMG love it. Anyone that like playing pranks is easy to spot and you already know who they are. Anyone who will punch you for being a jerk to them is also a pretty easy one to spot. But don’t you think that pranking friends is kinda played out if not just mean? What the hell is a practical joke. There is nothing practical about playing jokes on a friend. Unless of course they bet you $500 you can’t prank them. Then if you pull it off, you have $500. Practical. Making people mad or cry isn’t practical at all! Aren’t these people our friends? So I propose a change. more »

About to be a, what? BAR FIGHT!

03/18/10 | by Abbey [mail] | Categories: Holidays, Rants, Random
First, let me give you some background info. A few years ago after Phedre turned 21 we went to Chicago for St Patrick’s Day shenanigans. By the end of the night I was feeling miserable due to my stomach of doom and my lack of knowledge to control it. I was sick and in pain. We ended up in a bar and I was perched on a chair with my head in my hands hoping to die. Beside us two young men started a scuffle and began to throw each other around. This disrupted my dying process and I was not pleased. I pulled out of my catatonic state, leapt of my chair, threw the two apart and then crawled back to my position in the chair. Leave me to die in peace! Jeez. I hate meatheads and I really hate drunken meatheads. They are always ruining a good time. I just want to give them all atomic wedgies and fly them up a flag pole. Why? Because they need knocked down a level and they were probably torturing poor nerds in high school. Abbey does not approve. more »

Oh! I forgot! Because I didn’t want to make a clown I made my own decorations. I slapped a Boba Fett head on mine and gave my mom a John Travolta circa Grease to place on hers. Take a look! more »

Ho ho ho! Abbey's Tips for Surviving the Holidays

12/16/09 | by Abbey [mail] | Categories: Lists, Holidays
Rule #5: If you don't celebrate the holidays, leave everyone else alone. Yes. Jesus was born in the summer. Christmas leeched onto a pagan holiday. We know. Shut up, put money in the bucket and move on.Most important rule! Rule #6: Donate. No avoiding eye contact with bell ringers or pretending to be on the phone. It's time to be a decent human being for once in your life. No one cares how much you donate, just give a little. Times are crap right now and someone, somewhere will have a crappy Christmas. You could help change that. Give a toy or clothes, volunteer, give a dollar to whatever charity the girl at the movie box office is babbling about. Do something for someone else selflessly. THAT is what this season is about. And not so much a rule, but a side note. If you are going to give a dog/puppy to someone this year, rescue one from a local shelter. Say what you will but I will bet money that a pet shop dog is more likely to go insane than a rescued dog. More on this topic later.Happy holidays everyone! I hope you all survive the stress and chaos. Oh! I almost forgot! more »

If You Can't Stand the Heat: Thanksgiving Edition

11/17/09 | by Abbey [mail] | Categories: Holidays, Random
So last night I cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner. All by myself. This may seem/be insane but hear me out. It was a blast and I learned a lot! Everyone goes on and on about how hard and time consuming cooking this yearly dinner is but I never really understood it. It’s always much easier to show up with an empty plate and have someone hand you food. But I think some people are either just lazy or bitter about the whole experience. Cooking is a wonderful thing in my mind. I cook and bake when I get stressed. I cook and bake when I get bored. I cook and bake when my poor little heart can’t handle one more Big Mac. more »
